Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Mathew 6:25
The beauty of this season surrounds us now, with leaves painted in colours of beauty for the autumn season, and cool mist and fog surrounding our countryside in the early hours. With the advent of the autumn season we move into our time of thanksgiving and anniversary celebration on the Hastings Roseneath pastoral charge.
Thanksgiving is a time in Canada when we celebrate the abundance of the harvest, and give thanks for the many blessings that we have. Most of us are blessed with much bounty and of course at this time of year our gardens and the food markets team with abundancy.
Jesus encourages us to look at the “big picture” … to not be so concerned about our immediate needs, but to remember the things that really matter. Family, friends, relationships, caring and loving extended to others, are the things that really matter. A closer walk with God, is also something that should matter to people. During this season of gathering in Thanksgiving I encourage one and all to consider your faith life and to give thanks to God for your life. I also encourage you to attend your church for worship.
Your support and gathering as a faith community, help one and all to put into true perspective that which really matters in our lives.
Yours in faith and service,
Reverend Jamie York

After School Youth Program
Every other Wednesday, (one week at Roseneath, one week at Hastings) from 3:30-5:00 the church offers an “After school Program” for young people of the community, before they make their way home from school. There is lots of learning and nourishment at the program. First a bit of food, some program time, then some craft or recreation time.
Call the office for dates ahead.

Children’s Worship Time
Wonder what this is?
Think shhhhhhhhhh . . . Sunday School.
Kids shudder at the thought of “school” on Sunday, so we have renamed it. A time when the children can go downstairs part way through the worship service to receive Christian education. Reading the Bible stories, learning through hands on activity, crafts, colouring, anything that will help them to learn their Christian story. But, shhhhhhhh, don’t tell them it’s school. We have the programs . . . we have the teachers, all we need are the kids. Come bring them, we only need one thing . . . your support.

Sunday Worship Services
It is amazing how many times I, as a minister, hear people say things like, “I am spiritual, but not religious” or “I can worship God without going to church.”
When I press them on what they do to nurture their spiritual lives, they usually don’t do anything.
Worshipping is being spiritual. Worshipping in church affords one the opportunity to have a whole spectrum of spiritual activity . . . prayer, music of praise, “Word” of God through human words, sacraments of communion and baptism, care and outreach to the community and the world through mission and service, and the opportunity to support your church through gifts of money, as stewards of God’s bounty to us. Please feel welcome to come.
If you have any questions or concerns, at any time the office door is open to you.
Wishing you and yours best wishes and God’s blessings,
Reverend Jamie York
