Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, ''I have seen the Lord" (John 20:18)
Easter is the most central christian holiday for the church.
It is joy filled in its message and has remained as most important acknowledgment of the Spirit of God alive and present in the world for over two thousand years now. As well as being a joyous proclamation, Easter is at the same time, mysterious and seems to defy our rational thinking.
It is that aspect of the Christian faith that should make it attractive and intriguing to many. That sense of the mystery surrounding all things spiritual; the transcendence of God; and the mystery of the Resurrection, which is the foundation of Easter.
Week after week we gather as God's people to hear God's word of faith, hope and love, to proclaim Jesus as the risen Lord, and to delve into the mystery of faith.
My prayer and hope is that you may find it intriguing to explore your faith more deeply. There is no greater place to start that journey than with fellow travelers on that road in your local church.
Easter is a time when many also seek to offer support to their local congregation. An Easter offering envelope will be made available to you as you enter the sanctuary.
May you know a joy filled East in the spirit of the hymnal words of Charles Wesley, "Christ the Lord, is risen today, Hallelujah"
Yours in faith and service,
Reverend Jamie York
