St. John's Ambulance 'Therepy Dogs' visited the UCW General Meeting

We met in the church hall on Tuesday April 21 at 1 pm for our UCW meeting. It opened with worship. Volunteering and and the merits of giving and receiving was the theme for the meeting.   Three guests arrived wearing uniforms bearing the St. John's Ambulance crest. With them were their three 'therapeutic dogs'. They explained about the origin of there organization which now is Canada wide. An explanation of how the dog and owner qualify for this position was explained. Each representative told us about their dog and some heart warming experiences while visiting in nursing homes, hospitals, the reading program in Hastings Public School and in a home setting, if you request it. The dogs were received well and we in turn found ourselves reminiscing and feeling so fortunate to have them in our midst.
Lunch was served giving us time for fellowship and sharing.

The business meeting followed. It was proposed that the UCW approach the Church Council about giving each child in the 'After School Group' a bible of their very own, to keep with them as they grow to maturity. If this suggestion is approved the bibles will be a gift from the congregation of Trinity United Church.
