Greetings to all in email land,

Well our election is over... and south of the 49th parallel election happens soon.
Financial crunches are happening and still loom.
Oil prices are dropping...(yeh)  Interest rates may hike upwards... (boo) and the dollar sinks below 80 cents (boo) ... and God continues to bless us in all ways (amen)

And the Bible says to us, "Do not fear, I am with you"
Yes God is always with us, in the good times and the not so good times.
And what are we to do?  Simple enough... just "Love God and love neighbour as oneself"

That is our Christian calling.  That great commandment.

These were the words that form the centre piece of a new emerging sense of Christianity in the United States as discovered by Diana Butler Bass.
Her keynote addresses were given to over 140 registrants at the Queen's Annual Conference this week on the theme "Christianity Under Construction."
Her research and book, "Christianity for the Rest of Us" (New York Times bestseller) gives many examples where mainline denominations are transforming themselves through that "great commandment"
Butler Bass doesn't like the labels we use, (as in Liberal and Conservative) and preposes that we speak of this new emergence as "generative" christianity.
Something that is in its genesis and is filled with new birth for these emerging churches.

The great commandment from Matthew 22, is also the scripture lesson for this week and for our 127th anniversary celebration at Roseneath United Church this Sunday.
Rev. Judith Oliver (remembered by many as Judith Borland) former minister will be returning to the charge as guest for the day and will speak on her topic  "The Church is Full".
Full of what??
I don't know, but if you are able to come it would be nice to see it full of people!
There will be no service in Hastings and you are encouraged to come to Roseneath for 11.

And oh yes, we will eat afterwards.
Thanks be to God.
May your day be filled with all the blessings that God musters up within you,

Blessings,

Rev. Jamie York
